Legends of the Forsaken Sands
Magic Items come at a cost to create, but the boundary for enchantment is lower than it may be in other places. For this reason, to bind magic into objects requires sacrifices of varying kinds. Blood, Wealth, and Beauty are all suitable to be offered up, each carrying within them kinds of magic which appeal to the scattered deities of the Forsaken Sands.
In addition, Magic’s price for entry to the world is penance – An object created has a stigma associated with it, a side effect drawn by the time it takes for magic to settle. Because this phenomenon grows as the object grows in power and sacrifices grow in potency, the more powerful an object is, the longer it’s state remains imperfect after conception. For this reason, the most powerful sources of magic in the world are quite old. To create powerful magic in modern times is to be optimistic, in hoping there is time for this investment to pay off.
